Closure of all banks announced on Royal Cremation of late Thai King

BANGKOK, October 9 (TNA) - The Bank of Thailand (BOT) announces that it has ordered all banks and other financial institutes in the country to close all its offices and branches nationwide as a special holiday on October 26 to allow their personnel to attend the Royal Cremation of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the day. Payong Srivanich, President of state-run Krung Thai Bank (KTB), told journalists on Monday that KTB has, thus, announced the closure of October 26 as a special holiday, as ordered by BOT. Payong said KTB will also organize an alms offering to 89 Buddhist monks on October 27, in which all KTB personnel are welcome to participate, to pay tribute to the late and beloved Thai monarch. The KTB president vowed that his bank's executives and officers will follow the path of the late and revered Thai monarch on doing good deeds for the Thai society and the nation. Meanwhile, TMB, like other banks in Thailand, issued a public statement notifying its clients nationwide on the special holiday on the Royal Cremation Day on October 26, but informing that all its digital services will remain operating to serve its clients on the day. Besides, the TMB call center, 1558, will continue to serve its clients 24 hours on October 26. (TNA)
