Iranian-born Writer Honored In Russia for Cultural Achievements

Moscow, Feb 25, IRNA – The Iranian-born Russian writer Professor Jahangir Dorri was celebrated for his half a century achievements in Iranian culture and language. Tens of Iranian and Russian scholars took part in a ceremony on Saturday which coincided with the 80th birth anniversary of the outstanding figure. Participants paid tribute to valuable efforts of the professor who worked on promotion of the Iranian culture, language and literature in Russia for half a century. Professor Dorri was born in Moscow in 1932 where the family was living because of the father’s job. The family moved to Iran in 1935 but had to return to Moscow again in 1946 when the father was assigned a diplomatic mission to the Iranian embassy in Moscow. Professor Dorri remained in Moscow for the rest of his life and continued to do scholarly jobs in Russian universities./end
