Iranian Police Seize Over 165 Tons Narcotics In 4 Months

Khorramabad, Lorestan Prov, Aug 7, IRNA – Iranian police’s anti-drug squads have discovered and seized a considerable amount of illicit drugs in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), a senior police commander said. “More than 165 tons of various types of narcotics have been discovered and seized in the first four months of the current year in the country,” Acting Iranian Police Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan said. Brigadier General Radan noted that the amount of narcotics seized during the said period shows a considerable growth as compared with the previous year. The Iranian police commander pointed to reinforcement of Iran’s border police forces, and said, “According to the goals and programs of the police force, the massive and effective presence of police troops along sea borders are among pivotal programs of police in campaign against drug trafficking.”/end
