Police step up security during New Year holiday in Thai South

SONGKHLA, Dec 27 (TNA) - As New Year festival is approaching, security in southern Thailand such as Satun and Songkhla province bordering Malaysia has been boosted for holidaymakers, police said Sunday. With more tourists arriving in five key districts of Songkhla including Hat Yai, known as shopping paradise in the South, and Sadao, police have set up more checkpoints on major roads there. In Satun resort province, police have patrolled on bicycle along roads and on beaches on Lipe Island. The police, stationing on the island have worked with marine police and resort operators for the safety of tourists on the New Year holiday. (TNA)
