Russian, US defence officials reach progress during video link-up on Syria - Pentagon

WASHINGTON, October 14. /TASS/. Military officials of Russia and the United States reached progress during a third video conference aimed to negotiate the agreement on safe flights for Russia’s and the U.S-led coalition’s aircraft over Syria, U.S. Department of Defence’s spokesman Capt Jeff Davis said in a statement on Wednesday. "Progress was made during the discussions, which were professional and focused narrowly on the implementation of specific safety procedures," the statement said. Along with this, Davis would not specify the details of the consultations but confirmed that the two countries’ defence ministries had had the third video conference to agree the safety rules for flights over Syria. Earlier in the day, the Russian Defence Ministry's press service said that during the consultations the sides "are getting closer in positions on the key items of the would-be document." "The sides' further steps have been coordinated," the ministry said. "Like the previous ones, the discussion was professional and was held in a constructive atmosphere." Read more
