Water, Grass Needed For Yellow Deer In Oroumiyeh Lake's Ashk Island

Oroumiyeh, Sept 15, IRNA – Man Dir of W. Azarbaijan Province Environment Protection Org said here Friday water and grass needed for survival of yellow deer in Oroumiyeh National Park was transferred to Ashk Island by helicopter. Hassan Abbas-Nezhad added in an interview with IRNA, 'In order to transfer the needed water a grass to the Ashk (tear drop) Island of Oroumiyeh National Park we had over 50 sorties of chopper flights.' Referring to the lingering drought and scarcity of water and grass in Ashk Island of Oroumiyeh National Park, Abbas-Nezhad reiterated, 'Our office is with the entire facilities at its disposal at the service of preserving and relief operation for the yellow deed population of that island.' The Managing Director of W. Azarbaijan Province Environment Protection Organization Abbas-Nezhad added, 'In order to provide the required water and grass for the yellow deed of Oroumiyeh Lake, taking advantage of private sector helicopter we transferred some 15,000 liters of water and two metric tons of grass to Ashk Island of the lake. He added, 'The relief operation and transfer of water and grass to Ashk Island will continue till full needs of the entire yellow deer in the island are met.'/end
