Afghan Scholar: West Interpreting HR According To Its Own Interests

Kabul, Jan 22, IRNA – Head of Afghanistan’s Islamic Brotherhood Council Mowlawi Habibollah Hisam said western countries led by the US are interpreting human rights according to their own interests. Talking to IRNA on Tuesday, he accused Washington of making false claims and practicing double standard policies towards the issue of human rights. Describing the US as the biggest violator of human rights, he said the US believed in two diverse definitions of the word “human”; one for those who belong to its own group which work to guarantee Washington’s interests and one for Muslims who are seeking freedom and independence based on the Islamic values. He stressed the very basic policies used by western countries in Muslim countries is based on violation of rights of people. The scholar noted that the West does not really believe in human rights but rather is manipulating it to exert pressure on other countries. To prove the claim, he said, there are many who violate the human rights but extensively enjoy the support of the western countries while the countries which refrain from yielding to the US policies are meeting its wrath for hollow claims./end
