Ayatollah Khatami made the remarks in a ceremony held to commemorate Hazrat Ahmad ibn Musa (AS) in his holy shrine in Shiraz.
“They falsely say that they cannot prevent insults to Muslim sanctity for the sake of freedom of speech,” he added.
Ayatollah Khatami noted that this is while if anyone defies what the big powers say about Holocaust they are sentenced to between three to five years in jail.
He expressed regret over putting an insulting anti-Islam movie on the Internet by an American-Zionist filmmaker in the US and publication of insulting cartoons in the French magazine ‘Charlie Hebdo’ in France.
“In view of increasing fury throughout Muslim World after outrageous insults to Islam and the holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), the global arrogance is trying to get rid of vibrant Islam. But according to the Holy Qur’an all Muslims should fight the blasphemy and blasphemers,” Ayatollah Khatami added./end
