Blast At Sufi Shrine Kills 4 In Pakistan
Islamabad, Feb 26, IRNA – A bomb blast at a shrine in southern Pakistan killed at least four people and injured nearly 12 others, police said.
The blast occurred at the Dargah Hajan Shah Mauri shrine in Shikarpur district in Sindh province when a large number of devotees were present.
Custodian of the shrine, Syed Hajin Shah, was among the injured who were taken to nearby hospitals.
Witnesses gave different details of the nature of the blast. Some said that a man riding a motorcycle threw a grenade and fled from the scene, while eyewitnesses said that an unknown individual left a bag at the site, after which there was an explosion.
Hospital sources said that several injured were registered critical.
No groups claimed responsibility.
It is the second blast at a Sufi leader in Sindh province in less than a week.
A blast took place during a rally of a Sufi leader Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah Bukhari, the Pir of Qambar Sharif, in Jacobabad district on Wednesday.
Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah was among the 10 injured while his grandson, Shafiq Hussain Shah, was killed in the remote-controlled blast./end
