Envoy: Iran Opposes Politicization Of HR

Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA – Iran's Permanent Representative in the United Nations Mohammad Khazaee castigated the hostile attitudes of certain countries against human rights conditions in Iran, and voiced Tehran's opposition to politicizing the human rights issues. Khazaee made the remarks at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York on Thursday. 'The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the best solution for expansion and improvement of human rights in the world is through dialogue and serious mutual cooperation as well as avoiding politicization,' he said. 'L51 Resolution related to human rights conditions in Iran has been politicized and it does not seek promotion of human rights in Iran,' Khazaee said. He said that unfortunately this resolution has been silent about the human rights frameworks in Iran and the country's achievements in this regard, and it does not reflect the real situation of human rights conditions in Iran. Pointing to Canada as one of countries signing the UN resolution against Iran, Khazaee said, 'Canada which itself is violator of the rights of its own indigenous population, and a staunch supporter of the Zionist regime and violations of Palestinian rights is trying to condemn human rights conditions in Iran.'/end
