Finland Envoy Stresses Development Of Ties With Iran

Bandar Abbas, Feb 16, IRNA - Finlandˈs Ambassador to Tehran Harri Kamarainen emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations with Iran in all fields, including tourism. During his visit to the Shahid Rajaee port complex at Bandar Abbas which is the Iranˈs principal gateway for containerized cargo, Finlandˈs envoy called this port as one of the most beautiful ports he had ever seen. ˈThere are good grounds for cooperation among Iran and Finland’s ports.ˈ Finlandˈs ambassador also had a visit to Iranˈs Southern Qeshm Island and in his meeting with Qeshm Island Governor Masood Salari, asserted that Iran’s Hormuzgan Province, in particular Qeshm Island’s natural resources, productions and capacities, are dreamlike. Kamarainen underlined the Qeshm Islandˈs tourism potentials, adding that Finlandˈs tourists are keen to visit such beautiful islands. ˈThere are good grounds for collaboration between the two states in exchange of students interested in studying tourism, Qeshm Island fishes are peculiar in beauty internationally.ˈ Qeshm Island’s governor, for his part, underlined Qeshmˈs preparedness to develop relations with Finland based on the national framework of the two countriesˈ bilateral ties. Qeshm is the biggest island in the Persian Gulf near the strait of Hormoz. It is stretched closely along the south coastline (Hormuzgan) of the Iranian mainland. The highest elevation is the 370 m in Bukhun mt. Also there is the gas and oil in the center of the island. The length of island is 130 km and the widest part is 11- 35 km between Tabl and Salakh. The number of species and communities are 370 and 67 respectively. The Harra protected area, one of the biggest forest habitats in Iran, is situated in this island. Qeshm is the biggest island in the Hormoz strait. Also the island is very important in view of speciation in long time. Due to human activities in this area, flora and vegetation should be preserved. Another importance of the island is Ghar- e Kharbas as a historical place./end
