Hungary promises cooperation in water management and agriculture

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Presidents of Mongolia and Hungary made a press briefing, at which Mr Janos Ader said that there many possibilities for cooperation with Mongolia as he witnesses these in person during this visit. Hungary could provide Mongolia with a development assistance in the areas of water management and agriculture, he said. The Hungarian President noted that the two countries’ cooperation in water management dates back to 1950’s. Water is considered as an important subject in the country’s development, the economic growth of which amounted to 8-17 percent in the past few years, as Mongolia faces mining boom. "Water management is also crucial in providing daily demand of the people and in intensifying the agricultural development," said Mr Ader. Another possible collaboration can be realized in the agricultural sector, he said. One of the animal bio-plant at Songino, build many years ago by the Hungarian professionals, is undergoing a major renovation with the Hungarian credit, he added. “It is also suitable for our two countries to cooperate in livestock breeding, strengthening food security, localizing in Mongolia the European standards, as well as in solar and wind energy projects," said the Hungarian leader. He also mentioned that, according to the recently inked Cooperation agreement in education, Mongolia will increase a number of students, heading to Hungary, up to 100 each year. "In overall, 400-500 Mongolians have graduated our universities," he noted. Mr Janos Ader also informed the press that the two Presidents welcomed their decision to re-open the Hungarian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar this May. "The new ambassador will put realistic efforts in mobilizing the cooperation in agriculture, water management and education spheres," he said.
