I haven’t received letter from prosecutor general: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN,Dec.27(MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that he had not received a letter from the national prosecutor general asking him to announce the names of the 300 people who have taken 60 percent of the country’s loans.
On December 14, Ahmadinejad said that there are 300 people who have put 60 percent of the money that has been loaned out in the country in their own pockets and they are not returning it.
Following this announcement National Prosecutor General Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejeii sent a letter, published on Tuesday, to Ahmadinejad in which he asked him to declare the names of these people.
After the president made such an announcement on the national TV on December 14 voices were raised why the president does not reveal the names of these people.
Government spokesman Gholamhossein Elham told reporters on Wednesday that last December the president presented to the Judiciary chief a list of more than 600 people indebted to banks.
However, Elham said all this commotion originated from a misinterpretation of the president’s remarks on December 14. He said the president was in fact complaining about a parliamentary ratification which has allowed these persons to pay their dues at later dates.
