ICAO Urged To Use Persian Gulf Historical Name

Tehran, July 29, IRNA – International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has underlined the need to use "Persian Gulf" historical name instead of forged "Arab Gulf". In response to a letter of protest sent by Iran to the Organization, the ICAO Secretary General Raymond Benjamin issued a circular to prevent repetition of such mistakes, Head of Irans Civil Aviation Organization Hamid Reza Pahlevani said. He regretted that the ICAO publications have sometimes used the forged name of Arab Gulf in the past years, underscoring the need to make use of Persian Gulf instead. Iran's permanent representative to the ICAO and countrys Civil Aviation Organization have therefore protested against the issue, Pahlevani said. Iran, in its letter, has urged ICAO not to repeat such mistakes, said the official./end
