Iran-UAE Exchange Views On PG Security

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Ministers of Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) exchanged views on important regional issues including security in the Persian Gulf. UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Tariq Ahmed al-Hidan, who is in Tehran heading a delegation to attend the eighth joint Consulate Commission, met with Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdullahian here on Tuesday. In the meeting, in which ambassadors of both countries were present too, issues related to bilateral relations and mutual desire for developing cooperation were discussed. International and regional issues, such as developments in the Middle East , especially Syria and Egypt were among other issues discussed. In this concern, necessity of confrontation of regional countries with the phenomenon of radicalism as an important element of disruption in regional security and stability were underlined. Both sides also considered political solution as the sole way to settle Syrian crisis and the role of Syrian people in determining their own fate was underlined. The issue of security in the region of the Persian Gulf and Iran’s positive role in this concern and necessity of cooperation and joint action of the countries of the region were also underlined./end
