Iranian Envoy Criticizes Poor Performance Of Malaysian Judicial System

Kuala Lumpur, July 20, IRNA – Iranˈs Ambassador to Malaysia Mohhamd Jalal Firouznia has criticized poor performance of the countryˈs judicial system for not following up cases of the Iranian prisoners in Malaysia. Firouznia made the criticism in a recent meeting here with Chief Justice of Malaysia Arifin bin Zakaria, Iranˈs Embassy in Malaysia reported on Sunday. Over 200 Iranian nationals are presently kept in 12 Malaysian prisons for different offences mostly for being deceived by illegal drugs smugglers. A society to protect Iranian prisoners in Malaysia began its work in that country last year aiming to help the Iranian detainees in that South-Asian state. Complaining the slow pace of discussing cases of the Iranian detainees in Malaysia, the ambassador called for quick investigations into those cases. For his part, the Malaysian official, promised to help speed up investigating into cases of the Iranian prisoners as soon as possible. Iran is interested in signing an agreement with Malaysia on extradition of prisoners./end
