Iran's Majlis Speaker Underlines Role Of Parliaments In Expanding Interactions Among ECO Members

Islamabad, Feb 13, IRNA – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in the closing ceremony of the first conference of Parliamentary Assembly of Economic Cooperation Organization (PAECO) member states underlined the role of parliaments in expanding interactions among ECO members. Larijani called on PAECO secretariat to pursue the issues discussed in the conference. At the end of the closing ceremony, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Fahmida Mirza read out the final statement. The conference was held from February 11-12 with an aim of promoting the supervisory role of parliaments of ECO members in trade and investment affaires among regional countries. Larijani is scheduled to travel to Lahore, the capital of the Pakistani province of Punjab to meet and confer with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari./end
