IRGC: Iran To Give Firmer Response To Airspace Violations By US
Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA – Aerospace Commander of the Islamic Revolution’s Guards Corps (IRGC) warned the US against the repetition of violating Iranian airspace, and said that the American officials should realize Iran’s red-lines and respect them or meet the negative consequences.
Islamic Republic of Iran has (its own) red-lines and the Americans should come to understand that and respect them, otherwise in case of repeating the same (mistakes) they should wait for tougher reaction by IR Iran’s armed forces,” Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh told reporters on Sunday on the sidelines of a ceremony held in Tehran for commemoration of the martyred director of IRGC’s missile program.
On November 1, a US spy drone had violated the Iranian airspace over the southern coastal waters of Southern Bushehr province and the two IRGC’s SU-25 fighter jets shooed it away after they found out that the drone was on an intelligence gathering mission near Kharg Island.
“According to the information provided by the Americans themselves the shooed away drone was on the mission of intelligence gathering or in other words spying mission,” the commander said while elaborating that the US drone was of NQ1 type.
Pointing to the fact that IRGC, which is in charge of security of the Persian Gulf region, had warned the US aircraft several times before, Brigadier General Hajizadeh said that despite the previous warning to the US not to violate Iran’s Flight Information Region, the US drone entered Iran’s airspace and received a harsher warning this time through warning shots./end
