Lebanese Sunni Cleric: Iran’s Resistance, Good Basis To Confront Zionists Plots

Beirut, May 19, IRNA – Lebanese Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani hailed resistance of the Iranian nation against western plots and termed it as a solid basis to confront the Zionist regime conspiracies in the region. He made the remark in a meeting with the visiting head of Iran’s donations and charity affairs organization Ali Mohammadi during which chairman of the Supreme Lebanon Shiite Assembly AbdolAmir Qablan was also present. The grand Sunni cleric noted that Lebanon has always managed to stand away from Sunni-Shiite conflicts so far but now it seems that certain unknown hands are after fueling differences and clashes in Trablos and then spread it to other regions. He said he has urged both the Lebanese nation and officials to stay vigilant against West-Zionist plots which want the regional nations to be busy with fake internal issues. Qablan, too, stressed the effective role and authority of Iran in the region in confronting the conspiracies of the West and the Zionist regime and said it was a strong backing for the Islamic awakening movement and the popular uprisings. He called on Iran to continue its support for the oppressed nations. The Shiite cleric also underlined the importance of vigilance towards plots against regional countries. Referring to the remarks of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the need for solidarity of Muslim nations, he said the waves of the Islamic awakening has caused fear in the hearts of the Zionists./end
