Malaysia, Thailand hold meetings on bilateral cooperation
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (TNA) -- Thailand and its close neighbour Malaysia are holding a two-day meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring ways to improve the livelihood of their peoples living along the border.
The meeting ends Thursday and is being held in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
Senior Thai government officers, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai, attended the 13th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) and the 4th Joint Development Strategy for Border Areas (JDS).
Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Bin Haji Aman headed Malaysian high-ranking Malaysian officers at the meetings.
Both sides are expected to discuss on politics, economic, security, social and culture and other interesting issues under the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ASEAN) under the JC meeting.
On JDS, participants at the meeting are expected to confer wide ranging of cooperation and improving infrastructure along their border.
The two countries are ASEAN members. The grouping will embark on the ASEAN Economic Community at this year’s end. (TNA)
