MP: Saudi Policy On Bahrain Runs Counter To UN Charter

Tehran, May 16, IRNA – A member of Majlis Presiding Board Mohammad Dehgan said on Tuesday that the way Saudi Arabia deals with Bahrain runs counter to UN Charter because Bahrain is an independent state and a member of the international community.
Speaking to IRNA, he said Saudi Arabia is not authorized to violate the territorial integrity of Bahrain or manipulate its political infrastructure.
Rulers of Bahrain are not authorized to sell out the country or let others interfere in the country’s internal affairs, he said.
Countries of the region along with the United Nations should be sensitive towards the issue as interference in the country’s affairs will prepare grounds for interference in the domestic affairs of other countries in the Persian Gulf region, he said.
Regional countries should understand that if they neglect the issue and let Saudi Arabia violate Bahrain’s territorial integrity and its independence, other scenarios might happen for other countries in the Persian Gulf region.
Russia and other countries should adopt a clear policy in dealing with the issue, he said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran as a justice-seeking nation will lodge protest against Saudi policy and believes that Saudi Arabia cannot attain its sinister goals./end
