No One Can Decide For Syrian People : Deputy FM

Tehran, May 1, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that no one can ever decide for the Syrian people although it is a duty for all nations to help quick restoration of peace to that country. The official made the remarks while commenting on the issue of Syria during a recent speech about Iranˈs strategies. Like some other Arab states, Syria, too, needed some reforms, but it should be the Syrians who dedice for their political system, Amir Abdollahian stressed. ˈNeither Iran, nor our friends in the region or any other country in the world can decide for the Syrian people,ˈ the official said. He added that the US and its allies have ˈplanned an engineered revolution for Syria.ˈ The diplomat added the US officials have admitted that they sent some al Qaeda forces to Syria to topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad. However, they have soon realized that it was a big mistake similar to those they had made in Iraq and Afghanistan. Amir Abdollahian urged international community to help prepare the ground for bringing peace to Syria as soon as possible./end
