Oppressive Powers Misuse Media Against Humanity: President Advisor

Moscow, July 7, IRNA – Oppressive powers misuse media outlets in favor of their inhumane, evil goals, Presidential Press Advisor and Managing Director of Islamic Republic News Agency Ali Akbar Javanfekr said at the 2nd World Media Summit in Moscow on Friday. 'Although new online media tools including social networks are becoming influential on public opinion, but outside powers are misusing them to weaken independent states on the pretext of human rights; world media should do its best to protect human ideals independent from political and financial powers.' Javanfekr noted that a more just world can guarantee a more secure world and propagation of terror by hegemonic powers in order to make independent states to bow toward them, will not bring peace and stability. 'Today, West propaganda machine has become a tool in the hands of western powers to provoke unrests and deviate popular revolutions; emerging weblogs and non-official media have paved the way for the superpowers to propagate incorrect news and analysis.' Javanfekr, heading an Iranian delegation arrived in Moscow on Wednesday. The two-day-long summit started with messages from President Vladimir Putin and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. The forum entitled 'Global Media: Challenges of the 21st Century' is being organized by the Russian Itar-Tass news agency.
