PM urges northern communities to follow Thai King's philosophy

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, February 14 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has urged local communities in Chiang Mai, her hometown, to follow His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's initiated Sufficiency Economy philosophy to address the poverty problem in the northern Thai province. Yingluck, who is on her trip to the Thai North amid tight security, made the call on Thursday when she inaugurated an integrated project on environment conservation of local community models in major northern basins, based on the royal-initiated Sufficiency Economy, and an activity themed "promise under the same sky”. Representatives of the provincial communities, meanwhile, announced a social contract committing locals not to cause smog and other forms of pollution in their neighbourhoods. (TNA)
