Spain FM: Madrid Suffering From Anti-Iran Sanctions

Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA – Spainˈs Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo said his country is suffering losses because of anti-Iran sanctions. Making the remark in a meeting with Head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran Mohammad Ali Najafi, he noted that Spain used to import 14 percent of Iranˈs oil output before imposition of the sanctions. Saying that Spainˈs foreign policy is based on the principle of promotion of peace in the world, he said Tehran-Madrid ties too will move forward according to the tune of Iranˈs relations with the European Union. Referring to his meetings with the Spanish economic and tourism officials during his stay in the country, Najafi hoped for a new chapter in bilateral cooperation with removal of all sanctions. He further conveyed the greetings of the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif to his Spanish counterpart./end
