US Drone Kills 4, Injures Dozens In Pakistan’s Tribal Region

Islamabad, Sept 25, IRNA -- An American spy aircraft killed at least four people in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region late Monday, tribesmen said. The unmanned aircraft fired two missiles on a house at Mir Ali area, they said. Several other people were also injured in the strike. There was no report about the identity of the slain men. It was the second US strike in North Waziristan region in three days. An American spy aircraft had killed at least three people in North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday. The Monday strike occurred at a time when President Asif Ali Zardari was holding a meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in New York. Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, who is accompanying the President, said in Washington on Saturday that Pakistan strongly opposes the US drone strikes in the country’s tribal regions. She also met Clinton in Washington late Friday and said that Islamabad considers the attacks as violation of the country's sovereignty. The US has always ignored Pakistan's demands and continued drone attacks. International right groups, Too, have termed the US attacks as illegal and are calling for an end to the campaign. The Obama administration has increased the number of drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal regions. The US says it targets the militants in the Pakistani tribal region who launch cross-border attacks from there. But the Pakistani tribesmen say that American drones most often kill the innocent people and have caused physiological and psychological problems among the children./end
