West’s Dual Standard Towards Iran N-program Against NPT

Moscow, August 11, IRNA – Senior Russian analyst of international affairs and economics Stanislav Ivanov said the West double-standard approach towards Iran’s nuclear program and that of Israel stands in contradiction with the Non-Proliferation Treaty and damages the validity of the document. In an article, he said western countries are still keeping silence in face of Israel’s military nuclear program and its atomic arsenal which stockpiles over 200 nuclear warheads. This attitude of the West continues while the Zionist regime has been invading its neighbors repeatedly in the past decades and is a war-mongering and hostile regime only seeking its own interests through triggering bloody conflicts, he added. In spite of all that, the US and European countries have never asked the United Nations Security Council to impose sanctions on Tel Aviv, he noted. Referring to the anti-Iran polices of the US and its western allies, Ivanov further wrote that Washington asked the UNSC for four anti-Iran discriminatory resolutions using fantasy accusations against Tehran’s nuclear program. He further pointed to Israeli attacks on Iraq’s atomic reactor in 1981 and Syria’s virtual reactor in 2007 as well as assassination of a number of Iranian nuclear scientists and stressed that western countries not only failed to condemn Israel’s illegal actions but also supported it. He also reminded that the Zionist regime, in cooperation with the US and a number of other western countries, embarked on cyber attacks on Iran’s industrial and nuclear sites to paralyze the country's oil and gas sectors. The Russian expert believed that Washington and Tel Aviv have always been involved in an undeclared war against the Islamic Republic./end
