West Should Respect Iran: Ahmadinejad

Quchan, Khorasan Razavi prov., May 15, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that the West should respect the Islamic Republic of Iran if it expects the same. President Ahmadinejad made the remarks on the threshold of Iran's nuclear talks with G5+1 in Baghdad. “If western countries revise their approach to Iran and respects the Iranian nation, they will be treated in the same manner,” he said. Addressing thousands of enthusiastic people in the city, he said they should bear in their mind that the Iranian nation will never give up its legitimate rights. He advised the western states to adopt rationality in dealing with Iran. The Iranians know how to deal with the irrationality of the western states if required, he said. Criticizing the West's military intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan, he said they assumed that they could rescue their ailing economy by attacking Iraq and Afghanistan in retaliation for the destruction of twin towers in the New York, he said. They are now caught up in a much worse situation which indicates that their plans to target those countries were unwise, he said./end
