Zarif : Iran N-rights, Non-negotiable

Tehran, Sept 30, IRNA – “Our right to enrich is non-negotiable,” Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview on ABC “This Week” Sunday. We do not need military grade uranium. That is a certainty and we will not move in that direction, Zarif said while rejecting the West claims that Iran’s nuclear program has been for military use. Zarif said the aim of the talks is to review different aspects of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, stressing the need to remove economic sanctions imposed on the country. The Iranian foreign minister said any probable talks with the US will not include Iran’s absolute right to peacefully enrich uranium. “We need to move in that direction of removing some of that mistrust, true mutual steps that each side needs to take in order to convince the other side that its intentions are positive and for a better future for all of us, Zarif said. He referred to the recent phone call between the Iranian President Hassan Rohani and his US counterpart Barack Obama as the first effective step towards removing tensions. Zarif added the US now should be ready to lift anti-Iran sanctions as soon as possible. A smile attack is much better than a lie attack, Zarif said, adding that Netanyahu and his colleagues have been saying since 1991 that Iran is six months away from a nuclear weapon and they are still saying Tehran is six months away from nuclear weapons. We are not seeking nuclear weapons, the Iranian FM emphasized./end
