Iran's Majlis Speaker Congratulates GR Wrestling Teamˈs Championship

Tehran, May 17, IRNA – In a message addressed to the leader, the athletes, and the nation, Iranian Parliament speaker congratulated them all on precious victory of the Iranian national Greco Roman wrestling team in Tehran 32nd World GR Wrestling Championship. ˈThe noble, brave athletes of our country once again defended the prestige and championship status of Iran in Greco-Roman wrestling field and by achieving the topmost rank in those international games, hosted prestigiously by the Islamic Republic of Iran, they delighted the hearts of the nation and pleased them,ˈ Ali Larijani said in his Friday evening message. Larijani referred to the presence of top wresting powers of the world in Tehran international championship competitions, arguing that the brave Iranian athletes have worked hard and once again proved their high competence, urging everyone to praise them wholeheartedly. ˈOn behalf of the representatives of the Islamic Parliament, Majlis, I congratulate this pride inspiring occasion to the Supreme Leader, the noble Iranian nation, the athletes, the coaches of the Iranian national Greco-Roman wrestling team, and to their families, wishing all those beloved ones success and prestige in every possible field,ˈ he said. Iranˈs national Greco-Roman wrestling team defeated Russia in the finals of the 32nd FILA World Cup in Tehran on Friday to be crowned world champion for the fourth time. The 2014 World Cup of Greco-Roman Wrestling opened in Tehran on Thursday and will wrap up on Friday. A total of 10 teams are participating in the two-day competitions. Iran was drawn in Pool B along with Azerbaijan, Armenia, South Korea and Finland. Pool A consisted of defending champion Russia, Hungary, the United States, Turkey and Kazakhstan./end
