Iran’s 9th Majlis Opens

Tehran, May 27, IRNA – Iran's 9th parliament (Majlis) kicked off Sunday morning in the presence of several high-ranking officials, foreign ambassadors and 288 newly elected MPs. The session was inaugurated by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and playing of national anthem. A message from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei will be read by the Leader's representative Ayatollah Gholam-Hossein Mohammadi Golpayegani. President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, Chairman of Experts Assembly Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi-Kani, Expediency Council Chief Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, several foreign ambassadors to Iran and a number of top officials are participating in the inaugural ceremony of the 9th Majlis.
