Iran-Tunisia Call For Expansion Of Cultural Co-op

Tehran, May 29, IRNA – Tunisian Ambassador to Tehran Mohammad al-Hasayeri conferred on Monday with Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini on expansion of cultural relations and cooperation between the two countries. Ties and cooperation between the two sides are very deep-rooted and presence of Iranian intellectuals and cultural figures in Tunisia substantiates this claim, he said. Referring to the wave of Islamic awakening in Tunisia, he expressed the hope that recent developments in the region along with promotion of Islamic awakening will be to the benefit of Muslim nations as well as other people in the region. Hosseini also lauded the pro-Palestinian stands of the Tunisian government and underlined Iran’s support for people in Palestine as well as other oppressed and defenseless Muslims. He called on the Tunisian people to play an active role in cultural events. Hosseini also voiced readiness of Iranian artists to implement various cultural programs during Iran’s cultural week in Tunisia. Iran has proposed scientific, cultural and educational packages to Tunisia which are hoped to be implemented as soon as possible, Hosseini said. He also called for promotion of cultural cooperation between the two countries. Tunisian ambassador, for his part, lauded significant cultural events in the Islamic Republic of Iran and described the two sides’ relations as satisfactory. Describing Iran’s cultural development as very significant, he called for utilization of Iran’s experiences in cultural and artistic fields. Tunisia is ready to help broaden cultural cooperation between the two countries, he said. It is possible to help promote rich Iranian culture through Iranian movies and documentaries in Tunisia, said the Tunisian ambassador. Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance is to visit Tunisia in the near future./end
