Iranian, Foreign Physicians To Discuss Women's Diseases

Shiraz, Fars Prov., June 13, IRNA – Former Minister of Health, Dr. Kamran Bagheri Lankarani, says scientists from Iran and several other countries, including the US, the Netherlands, Egypt, Pakistan, Canada and Italy in a two-day conference will study the latest findings on women's diseases.
Lankarani told reporters on Tuesday that 40 lectures will be delievered at the meeting by specialists, 25 percent of whom are foreigners.
He said 470 articles had been sent to the secretariat of the conference, out of which 255 have been selected for presentation.
He added that promotion of women's health, healthy pregnancy, mental health, the contagious and non-contagious diseases contracted by women, and the aging and adulthood health would be the highlights of discussions in the meeting, to be held at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences from June 14-15.
He noted that fortunately, Iran is among countries that have been successful in witnessing a 75 percent fall in maternal death rate which is a rare event in the third world states.
He noted that obesity and osteoporosis, effects of drug consumption and family violence will be among other topics to be discussed./end
