Faisal Basri Visits Polling Stations in South Jakarta

Jakarta, July 11 (ANTARA) - Faisal Basri Batubara, one of Jakarta`s six gubernatorial candidates, visited a number of polling stations (TPS) in South Jakarta, after casting vote in Kebayoran Baru on Wednesday (July 11). His visit to several TPS in South Jakarta was aimed at getting to know whether or not the Jakarta`s gubernatorial elections run smoothly. Faisal Basri, the grand son of Adam Malik (former Vice President) in the gubernatorial elections paired with Biem Benjamin, who is the son of Benyamin Sueb, a former Indonesian comedian, actor, and singer of Batavian songs. During his short visit to several TPS, Faisal had a little talk with the TPS organizers. Later in the day, Faisal will watch the votes count in the East Jakarta`s area of Rawabunga and the quick count of votes through television channel in Tebet. Earlier, the Jakarta`s electoral commission (KPU) announced that a total of 6.962.345 voters of around ten million of Jakarta citizens were registered to cast votes in the elections. Six pairs of the gubernatorial candidates participating in the elections are Fauzi Bowo-Nachrowi Ramli, Hendardji Soepandji-Ahmad Riza Patria, Joko Widodo-Basuki Tjahja Purnama, Hidayat Nur Wahid-Didik J Rachbini, Faisal Basrie-Biem Benjamin and Alex Nurdin-Nono Sumpono. Fauzi Bowo and Alex Nurdin are the incumbent governors of Jakarta and South Sumatra provinces respectively while the two independent pairs vying for Jakarta gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial seats are Faisal Basri-Biem Benjamin and Hendardji Soepandji-Ahmad Riza Patria. Hidayat Nur Wahid is the former chairman of the People`s Consultative Assembly- MPR, while Joko Widodo is mayor of the Central Java`s city of Solo.
