Presence of 200 foreign firms in construction exhibit indicates sanctions failure: IRNA chief

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – Presidential Advisor for Press Ali Akbar Javanfekr said on Sunday that participation of 200 foreign companies in Tehran International Construction Exhibit indicates failure of sanctions on Iran. Touring the exhibition, he said that the sanctions will not work because a large number of countries are competing to have presence in the Iranian markets. “Imposing sanctions on Iran given Iranian huge capacities is illogical,” he noted. Javanfekr, also the managing director the Islamic Republic News Agency, contended that big companies involved in various fields will never agree to lose Iran’s valuable market. Stressing the need to make resistant buildings, he said that Iran is prone to earthquake and those involved in the field of construction should pay attention to the issue in a bid to decrease death toll in case of quake disaster. Some 200 foreign companies from 25 countries are showcasing their achievements in the ongoing exhibition. Companies from Germany, the US, France, the UK, Spain, South Korea, China, Austria, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and Sweden are participating in the exhibition sprawling in an area of 55,000 square meters. The exhibition showcases the latest achievements in the field of construction materials, prefabricated houses, development machinery, sewage systems, kitchen and bath equipment, automatic doors, floor coverings (tiles and ceramics), heating and cooling systems, elevators, electrical and electronic tools and relevant industries.
