Gunmen Shoot Dead Ex-provincial Lawmaker In Pakistan

Islamabad, Sept 23, IRNA – Gunmen Saturday shot dead a former member of provincial assembly in Pakistan’s commercial center of Karachi, police said. Malik Ata Mohammad, a former member of Sundh assembly, received critical bullet injuries in firing in Mehmood Abad area and died later in hospital of wounds, doctors said. The gunmen riding on a motorcycle fled after the incident. No group claimed responsibility. The incident caused panic in Karachi a day after several people died during clashes with the police and people who were protesting against the U.S.-made anti-Islam movie. Police said that nearly 10 people were killed in Karachi during the whole day of violent demonstrations. Dozens others were injured./end
