Iran President To Defend Muslims’ Rights At UN : Analyst

Islamabad, Sept 25, IRNA – A senior Pakistani analyst on Monday said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad being a Muslim leader will definitely raise strong voice against atrocities on Muslims and anti-Islam film in his speech at United Nations (UN) General Assembly. Talking to IRNA Lieutenant General (retd) Abdul Qayyum said that leaders of all Muslim countries should wear black stripes on their arms to protest against the US made anti-Islamic film while attending the UN session. President Ahmadinejad arrived in New York on Saturday to attend the 67th annual meeting of the UN General Assembly. This year, President Ahmadinejad is carrying the mandate of speaking on behalf of Non-Aligned Movement after Iran undertook leadership of the 120-nation international organization on August 31. NAM, a major international organization after the United Nations, calls for a part in governance of the international community by restructuring United Nations Security Council. Abdul Qayyum expressing his views said major powers are behind the making of blasphemous movie. “It is a shameful act,” the analyst added. He asked if questioning the holocaust is a crime in West then how a person can make a movie to mock the Holy Prophet without the consent of the US government. “Muslims must also record their protest against the ineffectiveness of the UN,” he said. He said that Iranian President will also discuss the situation in Syria. Lieutenant General Abdul Qayyum is a retired 3 star general of Pakistan Army. He appears frequently in television talk shows and is a well-known critic of American foreign policies pertaining to Pakistan./end
