Efforts To Change Syrian Political Structure Failed: Iran MP
Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ala'eddin Boroujerdi said Tuesday that certain countries failed to change the Syrian political structure in the past 20 months.
The MP made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Indonesian head of Iran-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group Ahmed Nazeer Shahab.
Referring to the latest regional developments, Boroujerdi said all states seeking any changes in political structure in Syria have currently come to the conclusion that the ongoing crisis in that country should be settled through diplomacy.
On sacrilege to the holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) in a US-made film, the MP noted that production of such movies indicated hostility of the West towards Islam.
As for the progressing cooperation between Iran and Indonesia, Boroujerdi said the two countries enjoyed great potentials to promote bilateral parliamentary ties.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian official referred to the anti-Islam film stressing that Tehran and Jakarta would condemn the move in a joint statement to be issued at the end of Iran-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group meetings.
Nazeer Shahab noted that boosting cordial relations with Tehran was a priority of Jakarta's foreign policy./end
