Larijani Stresses Further Unity, Solidarity Among Muslim States

Tehran, Oct 10, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Tuesday stressed the need for further unity and solidarity among Muslim states.
Speaking to Law Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province Rana Sana Ullah Khan here on Tuesday, Larijani said Iran’s strategy is based on promoting unity and fraternity among Muslim nations.
“Iran’s strategy is based on promoting unity and solidarity among Muslim nations vis-a-vis the bullying policies of the global arrogance,” said Larijani, adding that big powers have always been trying to weaken Muslim nations by dividing them and sparking religious conflicts.
Since long ago there has been special affinity between Iranian and Pakistani Muslim nations, said Larijani, adding that Iranian Majlis has always paid special attention to expansion of relations with Pakistan in the economic, political and cultural domains and in parliamentary field in particular.
He added that agricultural and economic potential of Iran and Pakistan provides a suitable ground for further expansion of mutual cooperation.
Rana Sana Ullah Khan, for his part, called Iran an “important” country in the region and said perseverance of Iran in the face of global powers is a source of pride for Muslim nations.
He said religious discord is among the goals of western intelligence agencies. “In a bid to divide Shiites and Sunnis, the western intelligence agencies are trying to undermine the Pakistani nation but to no avail because followers of religious sects are living together peacefully.”
He also urged expansion of political, economic and parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Pakistan's Punjab Province./end
