Iranian Revolution Photos To Be On Display In Vienna

Vienna, Jan 22, IRNA – A photography exhibition on the Islamic Revolution of Iran would be held in Austrian capital city, Vienna, from January 31st to February 10th, simultaneously with ten-day celebration period of Islamic Revolution. According to IRNA, the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vienna, in order to promote and strengthen the exalted ideals of the Islamic Revolution more than ever before, act in accordance with the guidance of the late Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution, in addition to a book exhibition on the same subject. The two exhibitions would be held at Imam Ali Islamic Center of Vienna. Among the other events of the events marking the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Vienna there would be screening movies. There would also be a drawing competition for the children and young adults titled ˈFour Images in One Frameˈ, including images of Iran during the past regime, Iran during the revolution, Iran during the years of the Sacred Defense, and Iran today, also sponsored by Iran Cultural Attaché. Among the other programs for the ten-day celebrations of the Islamic Revolution of Iran there would be article and story writing contests, poems and literary pieces composing and book reading competitions in Vienna. The Islamic Revolution of Iran refers to events involving the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under Mohammad-Reza Shah of Pahlavi, the last Iranian monarch, and its replacement with an Islamic Republic of Iran under the supreme leadership of Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini (P). Demonstrations against the Shah commenced in October 1977, developing into a campaign of civil resistance that was partly secular and partly religious, and intensified in January 1978. Between August and December 1978 strikes and demonstrations paralyzed the country. The Shah left Iran for exile on January 16, 1979 as the last Persian monarch and in the resulting power vacuum two weeks later Ayatollah Khomeini (P) returned to Tehran to a greeting by several million Iranians./end
