Iran-Nepal Emphasize Need For Enhanced Bilateral Co-op

New Delhi, June 12, IRNA -- The Accredited Envoy of Iran to Nepal and the VP and FM of Nepal in Katmandu on Tuesday emphasized the need for further expansion of mutual ties particularly in the economic areas. Gholam-Reza Ansari, who on Monday presented his credentials to the Nepali president in Katmandu, met with the Vice-President and Foreign Minister of Nepal in Katmandu to exchange views on the possible ways for further expansion of relations between Tehran and Katmandu. During the meetings, Ansari announced Iran’s readiness to enhance its relations with Nepal in different areas particularly tourism, trade and commerce. Gholam-Reza Ansari explained the capabilities of the Islamic Republic in various fields, expressing Iran’s readiness to establish hydro-power plants in Nepal. Paramanada-dha, for his part, supported the suggestions made on the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tehran-Katmandu saying: The Islamic Republic of Iran is a credible source of oil and gas, enjoying vast capacities in the petrochemicals sector and Nepal wishes to have cooperation with it in a number of areas particularly the energy and petrochemicals. Ansari and the Foreign Minister of Nepal Madhav P. Ghimire, during the same meeting, discussed major issues of the Middle-East particularly the situation in Syria were also discussed in detail. Appreciating the clear position taken by Iran on Syria, Ghimir emphasized that the Syrians must have the right to decide their own future without any outside interference./end
