Bali's Textile Exports Up
Denpasar, Bali, Jan 7 (Antara) - Bali earned US$98.56 million from the exports of textiles in the first 10 months of 2013 or an increase of 19.22 percent from the same period in 2012.
The exports volume rose 123.49 percent to 85.21 million pieces in the January-October period of 2013 from 38.12 million on-year, spokesman of the Bali provincial administration I Ketut Teneng said here on Tuesday.
Teneng said the increase in the export volume was attributable to large exports of 85.21 million pieces of underwear in 2013.
The textile products, which were produced by cottage industries accounted for 24.72 percent of Bali`s total export earning of US$398.75 million in the 10 months period in 2013.
Ketut Teneng said the largest export destination was the United States accounting for 24.24 percent, followed by Australia for 9.44 percent and Japan for 4.41 percent of the textile exports.
Other countries of destinations included Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and a number of European countries.
