Foreign investment fund in Thailand up during Jan-Aug 2014

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) - Foreign businesses, with a combined investment fund of about 14.22 billion baht, have been given the green light to open their firms in Thailand during the first eight months this year. Pongpun Gearaviriyapun, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, under the Thai Ministry of Commerce, told journalists of the information on Thursday, saying that her department's Foreign Business Committee has approved new 261 foreign businesses during January-August 2014, a 10 per cent year-on-year increase, while the combined investment fund rose by about 5 per cent year-on-year. In August alone, Pongpun revealed, the committee gave the green light to 36 foreign businesses, with their combined investment fund of 1.17 billion baht, in which a total of 343 Thais will be reportedly employed.
