Russia's Call for Global Cyberspace Treaty 'Great Idea' - Senior FBI Official

Russia's call for an international treaty to govern cyberspace is a "great idea," according to Executive Assistant Director for Intelligence at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Joshua Skule.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Russia's call for an international treaty to govern cyberspace is a "great idea," Executive Assistant Director for Intelligence at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Joshua Skule said at a security forum.
"I think it's a great idea where diplomatically we can resolve a conflict and set norms across the globe," Skule said on Thursday. "I don't know how anybody could dispute that."
Russia has urged the international community to agree on a set of rules to make cyberspace more secure against intrusions. The Kremlin argues that the rules could be codified in a treaty along the lines of the Geneva Conventions or similar international accords.
The United States has previously resisted the idea, saying such a treaty is unnecessary.
