President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan managed to build great economic potential thanks to enormous efforts of oilmen

Baku, November 9, AZERTAC “Azerbaijani oilmen have served the Azerbaijani nation at all times. Azerbaijan managed to create great economic potential thanks to enormous efforts of oilmen over the years of independence. Oilman is a very honorable and respected profession in Azerbaijan. It has always been so,” said President Ilham Aliyev addressing a solemn ceremony to celebrate two billion tons of oil production in Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev applauded the role of oilmen in overall development of Azerbaijan. The head of state said Azerbaijan is where the industrial method of oil extraction was for the first time developed in the world in 1846. “At that time, Azerbaijan accounted for the world`s major oil supply. The first off-shore oil extraction in history was also carried out by Azerbaijani oilmen in the mid-20th century, and it is also a historic event,” the President added.
