Artist Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa is guest of honour at Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts

Amman, Aug. 5 (BNA): Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Council for Arts and the Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation, was guest of honour at the 39th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts 2025, held in the city of Jerash, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. His invitation acknowledged his long artistic career and his important role in the Arab and international art scene.


 

Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa attended the launch of a symposium dedicated to drawing, calligraphy, and letter art, organised by the Jordanian Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Jordanian Artists Association (JAA). The symposium brought together Jordanian and Arab artists to highlight contemporary modes of creative expression.


 

He also visited an art exhibition at the association’s venue, where he viewed various works reflecting the diversity of Jordanian and Arab visual arts. While in Jordan, Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa held a meeting with the Jordanian Minister of Culture to explore opportunities for greater cultural and artistic cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Jordan.  


 

Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa emphasised the significance of the Festival as a major cultural platform in the Arab world that encourages creative exchange among artists.


 

On his part, Dr. Ibrahim Al Khatib, President of the JAA, highlighted Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa’s selection as guest of honour as an acknowledgement of his influential contributions to Arab and global visual arts and his leadership in supporting contemporary artistic practices.


 

He underscored Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa’s roles as founder of the Bahrain Arts Society and Chairman of the National Council for Arts have established him as a key figure in promoting art as a channel for cultural dialogue and mutual understanding.   


 

Dr. Al Khatib added that Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa’s participation in the symposium and exhibition was seen as a valuable addition to the festival, further developing cultural and artistic ties between Jordan and Bahrain, and underlining Jordan’s position as an active hub for creative exchange in the region.
