Campaign for Introducing Advanced Organic Farming Brisk in Rural Areas of DPRK
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- Amid a brisk campaign for introducing advanced organic farming into rural areas across the DPRK, more than 80 million catfish fries have been released into over 2 000 hectares of paddy fields and their breeding and management put on a scientific basis.
Farms in South Phyongan Province conducted a substantial technical study to make peasants acquire knowledge of paddy-field fish breeding, and built animal-protein feeding ground and puffed feed production base, increasing the production and ensuring the weight ratio of fries.
Agricultural workers in North Phyongan Province set in a scientific way the number of fish per unit area, the number of feeding times and the amount of feed according to the weight of fries and raise the survival rate.
Counties in South Hwanghae Province released catfish fries into paddy fields after the rice seedlings struck their roots. And they realized the standard of feed according to the fattening stage and took measures to use natural feed.
Rural areas in Pyongyang Municipality and South Hamgyong Province conducted water disinfection as required by technical regulations to prevent water pollution and reduce the death rate of fish. And they also take preventive measures according to symptoms of various diseases and their causes.
Agricultural workers in North Hwanghae Province and Nampho Municipality are raising fish in a responsible manner despite rainy season while repairing drainage facilities and spillway pipes and readjusting paddy ridges. -0-
