Foreign Minister receives phone call from Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister

Manama, Jul. 20 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call today from Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The two ministers reviewed the historical ties between Bahrain and Jordan and explored means to enhance bilateral cooperation across all sectors, further to serve the mutual interests of both kingdoms.

They discussed critical regional developments, condemning ongoing Iranian attacks targeting vital infrastructure in Bahrain, Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations. The ministers characterised these attacks as a dangerous escalation threatening civilian safety and a direct violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

The discussion addressed the implications of Iran's closing the Strait of Hormuz on global trade and maritime navigation. They reaffirmed the importance of ongoing efforts to safeguard regional security and stability. They agreed to enhance joint coordination during Bahrain’s current term on the UN Security Council on matters of shared interest.
