BACA President participates in conference on reconstruction of Palestine's cultural sector

Madrid, Jul. 20 (BNA): Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), participated in the International Conference of Culture Ministers on the Reconstruction of Palestine's Cultural Sector, held in Spain.

The conference was organised by the ministries of culture of the State of Palestine and the Kingdom of Spain, with the participation of culture ministers and senior officials, representatives of international and regional organisations, and Arab and international delegations concerned with cultural affairs.

The conference featured discussion sessions on the Palestinian cultural sector and priorities for its reconstruction. Participants stressed the importance of strengthening the Palestinian national identity and supporting efforts to preserve Palestine's cultural heritage, safeguarding its historical and humanitarian components while enhancing the standing of Palestinian culture at the local and international levels.

On the sidelines of the conference, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed met with Imad Al Din Hamdan, Minister of Culture of Palestine. The meeting discussed means to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries, in addition to exchanging expertise and experience in heritage protection and cultural reconstruction in Palestine.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed also met with Ernest Urtasun, Minister of Culture of Spain. The meeting reviewed means to strengthen cultural cooperation between Bahrain and Spain in support of the two countries' aspirations to develop and expand joint cultural programmes.
