The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst honors His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa as the first Bahraini to graduate from the academy.
London, August 8 / BNA / In celebration of seventy years of Bahraini relations with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Academy honored His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, in recognition of his pioneering career as the first Bahraini to graduate from the Academy, after joining it in 1957.
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa affirmed that this honor embodies the depth of the historical relations that bind the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, which have continued to grow and develop over the past decades thanks to the attention and support it receives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the country’s great King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, may God protect and preserve him, and His Majesty’s keenness to prepare and qualify national competencies according to the highest military and leadership standards.
His Highness expressed his pride in this honor, considering it an honor for the close relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the prestigious Academy, and an appreciation of the Kingdom’s distinguished presence in it over more than seven decades.
His Highness also congratulated the graduates of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this batch, which included five officers: his grandson Sheikh Mohammed bin Fawaz Al Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa, Nasser Abdullah Al Ajman, and Mohammed Abdullah Al Buainain, wishing them success in serving their country.
For his part, Major General Nick Collie, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, honored His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and awarded him the Academy’s sword and medal.
In his speech, Major General Nick Collie expressed the depth of the historical ties that bind the Academy to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which began in 1936 during the official visit of the late His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the then Ruler of Bahrain and its dependencies, to the United Kingdom and his field visit to the Royal Military Academy.
He added that this historic visit bore fruit, after more than two decades, with his grandson, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, joining the academy, becoming the first Bahraini to graduate from it, before his two sons continued this approach, as His Excellency Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and His Excellency Sheikh Talal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa graduated from the prestigious academy in 1992 and 1994 respectively.
The Commandant of the Academy also pointed out that this year marks ninety years since the beginning of the historical relations between the Academy and the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that the Kingdom is the largest country sending candidates to the Academy over the past seven decades, which reflects the belief of the wise leadership, may God protect and preserve it, in the importance of preparing and qualifying national military competencies according to the highest leadership standards, which contributes to strengthening the defense work system in the Kingdom.
